About
Growth should strengthen the people and places that make it possible.
EMBE Foundation works across Tanzania on the systems that decide whether growth lasts: energy, water, materials, land, livelihoods, and tourism.
Mission
We work with communities and partners to design, test, and grow practical solutions across clean energy, water security, circular resource use, regenerative agriculture, and responsible tourism.
Vision
A Tanzania where growth restores ecosystems, strengthens local economies, and expands opportunity without exhausting the resources future generations depend on.
How we work
Six operating principles.
Local ownership
Build with people, never merely for them. Ownership is agreed before work begins.
Practicality
Prefer maintainable systems over impressive but fragile ideas.
Fairness
Work should be steady, safe, and fairly paid.
Regeneration
Leave land, water, livelihoods, and institutions stronger than we found them.
Transparency
Explain what is known, what is measured, and what is still being learned.
Long-term thinking
Design for ownership, maintenance, adaptation, and scale.
Our roots
A practice before a programme.
The Foundation grew out of everyday work on the coast — collecting and recycling material, and paying for it properly. That practice sets the standard for everything we take on across Tanzania.
EMBE FOUNDATION
Keeps the island clean.
Waste is collected and recycled locally.
Work is steady.
Payment is fair.Made possible through Embe Club.
Scope
Tanzania-wide.
Our roots are coastal, but the work is not island-only. Conditions differ across the mainland and the islands — rainfall, grid access, soils, markets, and visitor pressure all change with place. We plan for that difference rather than exporting one template.
Project locations are published only once a project is verified. This outline carries no project markers.
Governance and team
Named when verified.
We publish board members and staff only with verified roles, consent, and accurate descriptions. Until those profiles are confirmed, this section stays empty rather than showing names we cannot stand behind.
Transparency
Documents, when they exist.
Registration papers, annual reports, policies, safeguarding, procurement, and financial reporting will be published here as downloadable documents. Nothing is listed until the actual file exists.
